depends on your need. if you want to root and official unlock it, i recommend you to update it to .368 build first

Thank you very much awis for this really informative and helpful and very easy method. I was searching such an easy method for weeks and finally I found yours.
I have some other questions for you and I hope you will answer these questions.
I have Sony Ericsson Xperia mini pro (SK17i) unrooted.
    Android Version 2.3.4 (Gingerbread)
    Baseband Version 8x55A-AAAQOAZM-203028D-58
    Kernel Version 2.6.32.9-perf SEMCUser@SEMCHost #1
    Build Number 4.0.2.A.0.58
I also have the bootloader unlock key.
As you mentioned in you post that “Make sure you are on stock firmware 4.0.A.2.368″.
I want to know can I still use your method to unlock and root my phone by using your boot.img file or I can use Gingerbreak.apk file?
I also want to know the names of applications which are safe to remove?
I also want to know how to free up RAM memory permanently?

I hope you will answer these questions and again give me a chance to say thanx to you.

So much to answer..install setXperia to know what are the safe apps to remove. just unlock your phone using sony method, safer..
you dont have to do much about memory management. android will take care of that..xperia mini pro’s ram is sufficient for daily phone use.

pls help. i searched all over the internet but no procedures worked on my sk17i, i want to enter the recovery mode so that i can undo/reset user data. But i cannot enter.

i was trying to run adhoc wifi http://forum.xda-developers.comshowthread.php?t=1980021 from this process and forgot to backup my android. And now my wifi/mobile data both doesnt work and i badly need to recover my phone. Please let me know if you have any solution.

flash new boot.img using bootloader mode. The boot.img must have recovery in it..
